Missouri Residents and the UCCS Residency Rule
A nurse living in Missouri cannot enroll in UCCS's online nurse practitioner programs or its RN to BSN today, because Missouri is on neither of the university's residency lists. The way in is a move to a listed state. Oklahoma, on Missouri's southwest border, is the nearest state where UCCS takes NP applicants.

Which UCCS programs a Missouri address rules out
UCCS decides eligibility by the state where you physically live. Its graduate NP options draw from 14 states and its online RN to BSN from 21, and Missouri is missing from both. The approved states guide prints both lists.

Licensing and NP practice under Missouri law
Nurse licensing in Missouri runs through its State Board of Nursing. Compact membership came by statute in 2017, and NCSBN's table shows it in force from January 2018, so a Missouri resident can carry a multistate license. Missouri is not among the few states that have passed the APRN Compact.
AANP puts Missouri in its restricted category. Every Missouri NP keeps a physician collaborator for life under a formal arrangement, and the law caps ratios, sets chart-review duties and narrows controlled-substance prescribing.
Research turned up no Missouri requirement that a school from another state register with the board, or send it notice, before placing students. For UCCS that stays background, since its hours follow your address.
Kansas City, the state line and Oklahoma
The Kansas City metro spills across the Kansas border, and the two sides get different answers. The Kansas side is RN to BSN territory, yet Kansas left UCCS's NP list after 2023 and UCCS's APRN licensure disclosure marks it as not meeting educational requirements. Oklahoma is the one border state open for UCCS's NP programs. Its rules call for an Oklahoma RN license for students doing APRN clinicals there, and AANP rates its NP practice as restricted, like Missouri's. SSM Health, a large Missouri system, also runs SSM Health St. Anthony in Oklahoma.

Life as a UCCS student after the move
Mercy, CoxHealth, MU Health Care, BJC HealthCare and SSM Health carry much of the state's care across Columbia, Springfield, Kansas City and St. Louis. Missouri sites stay off the table for UCCS hours even after you relocate, because the college allows hours only in its listed states.
In the state you settle in, the search for primary care hours near home is yours to run. Is UCCS's online FNP open to nurses in St. Louis?
Not while St. Louis is home. UCCS takes NP applicants only from its 14 listed states, and it counts the state you physically live in. A nurse who moves to a listed state first can apply as a resident there. Admission decisions belong to UCCS, so confirm your situation with the college.
Would a Missouri multistate license let me do UCCS hours in Oklahoma?
The license is not the test. UCCS asks where you live, and a Missouri home keeps you outside its NP list however far your license reaches. Once you live in Oklahoma, that state's APRN student rule and UCCS's practicum handbook each set the license you need for hours there.
Does UCCS's licensure disclosure mean Missouri residents qualify?
No. The disclosure says UCCS's APRN curriculum meets Missouri's educational requirements for licensure, useful to a nurse who trains through UCCS from a listed state and comes back to practice in Missouri. It speaks to curriculum rather than admission; the disclosure page explains the difference.
Can Missouri NPs claim a state tax credit for precepting?
Missouri's statute limits that credit to physicians and physician assistants who take medical or PA students without direct pay. An NP who precepts in Missouri, and the nursing student at their side, fall outside its terms.
