Tell us about your UCCS clinical course
The form on this page reaches our placement desk. A few specifics about your UCCS track, the clinical course ahead of you and your home location let your placement advisor start the search right away, and the message box holds anything the fields miss: a preceptor who just left, a site whose agreement stalled, or a semester that opens soon.
Send us your clinical details
Share your UCCS track, the course and semester ahead, and where you live. Use the message box for anything else, such as a preceptor who dropped or a start date that is close.

What to include in your message
The more exact the first message, the sooner the search begins. These details shape almost every UCCS placement:
- Your program and track: FNP, AGNP or PMHNP in the MSN, RN to MSN, BSN to DNP or certificate, or a DNP project or
NURS 4450placement. - Your start term, since students who began before Fall 2026 follow the 630-hour plan and later starts follow 770.
- The course you need a preceptor for and the semester it runs.
- Your city or ZIP code, your approved state and a realistic driving distance for clinic days.
- Anything already in motion: clinicians you have spoken with, site sheets sent this semester and agreements in progress.
- Constraints to plan around, such as your employer's locations or the weekdays you are available.
If you are not sure of a detail, leave it out; your advisor will ask about it in the first conversation.
When your situation is urgent
Say so in the first line of the message box. A course starting within weeks, a preceptor who has just left, or a site whose agreement stalled each change the order in which we work. A first-time agreement between UCCS and a clinic can spend six to eight weeks or more in legal review if problems come up, and no hour counts before UCCS says you are good to go, so every day of notice helps.
If you are mid-course, include the hours and patient encounters already logged and the hours left to finish, plus the date your semester ends. Our guides for a semester starting soon and a preceptor who dropped out explain what to do on the UCCS side while we search.
What happens after you send it
- Your advisor reviews itWe read your track, cohort, course and state against UCCS's rules, so the search targets preceptors UCCS can approve.
- A first conversationYour placement advisor confirms the details, asks about schedule and travel, and explains how the search and the quote work for your situation.
- The search beginsWe contact clinicians who fit your course and screen each one before you hear a name.
- Details for your site sheetWhen a preceptor agrees, you receive what the Clinical Site Sheet asks for, ready to send to UCCS early.
The how it works page walks through each stage. For the factors that set a quote, such as track, location and timeline, see the cost page.
What stays in UCCS's own systems
Share only what the search needs. Immunization records, background check results and drug screens belong in Medatrax and CastleBranch, where UCCS reviews them, and your Clinical Site Sheet travels directly from you to UCCS's Academic Services Professional for Graduate Nursing. A clinic deciding whether to host you needs your course, your dates, your location and your track, and that is what we work from.
Questions about grades, approvals or UCCS policy go to UCCS itself, and the UCCS clinical roles guide shows which title handles what. For how we treat the information you send, see our privacy page. Keeping the two channels separate means UCCS hears from you directly, and we stay focused on the search.
For preceptors and clinics
Clinicians reach us through this same form. Select the preceptor choice under program, then tell us your specialty, the state you are licensed in, your practice setting and the months you could host a student. We pair you with UCCS students whose rotation suits your clinic. Each student is yours to accept or decline, and the dates and hours are yours to set.
Clinic managers can also write to ask how UCCS's Affiliation Agreement and preceptor letter work before any student is named. The precept a UCCS student page covers UCCS's expectations of preceptors and what preceptors get in return, from documentation of precepted hours to library access. Rural and frontier practices in Colorado can also read about the state's preceptor tax credit there.
Questions UCCS students ask
When does the placement desk reply?
Replies go out once the desk has reviewed your details, and urgent cases move to the front of the queue. Adding the date your course begins lets us see how tight the timeline is and plan the search around UCCS's agreement process from the first reply.
What if I am unsure which course comes next?
That is fine. Choose "Not sure yet" if you are early in the program and give your track and start term; your advisor can work out the upcoming clinical courses from UCCS's published course sequence and your degree plan, then time the search to the semester that course opens.
Can I contact you before I start the UCCS program?
Yes. UCCS's handbooks suggest looking 3 to 6 months ahead, and its admission essay asks how you plan to secure clinical sites. Writing early gives you a concrete plan for that question and a head start on your first clinical course, NURS 6730 Advanced Health Assessment.
Is the form a sign-up or a contract?
Not at all. Sending it opens a conversation. Your placement advisor explains how the search would run for your track, what UCCS's timeline means for your course and what shapes the quote, and whether to go ahead is entirely your call.
Can a clinic manager contact you instead of the preceptor?
Yes. Clinic managers and preceptors can both use this form to ask how precepting a UCCS student works, what UCCS's agreement and preceptor letter involve, or how to host a student we have matched. Pick the preceptor option in the program menu so the message reaches the right person.
