What each UCCS program means for a South Carolina address
Physical residence, not the state on your license, decides eligibility. Only the campus BSN, a Colorado program, takes applicants who plan to move there.

UCCS's APRN licensure disclosure says its curriculum meets South Carolina's educational requirements. That speaks to coursework only, not enrollment, as the disclosure explainer sets out.
Licensing and NP practice in South Carolina
South Carolina nurses have held multistate licenses since early 2018, when the compact took effect there, so that license already reaches the compact members on UCCS's list. Making one of those states your permanent home, though, means licensing with its board.
AANP files South Carolina under restricted practice. NPs there need a physician practice agreement for delegated tasks, and the state caps the controlled-substance supply they may prescribe. Ten of UCCS's fourteen listed states, Colorado included, hold AANP's full-practice rating instead.
Board rules, the preceptor tax credit and the Upstate-to-Lowcountry map
Regulation 91-6 governs out-of-state programs that train students for first licensure: before clinicals begin, they need Board approval, an affiliation agreement and faculty on site whose license comes from South Carolina or another compact state. Graduate NP and RN to BSN programs fall outside its text, so no state list applies to UCCS here.
The state's credit for preceptors, which lawmakers stretched to tax year 2029, targets unpaid physicians, APRNs and PAs who meet its Medicaid thresholds and teach students from in-state colleges. Out-of-state learners do not count toward it.
Population centers are Greenville-Anderson-Greer (just over a million residents), Charleston-North Charleston, Columbia and the state's slice of greater Charlotte. Among the major systems are McLeod Health, Roper St. Francis Healthcare, Prisma Health, Lexington Health and MUSC Health, named as career context rather than as sites that take UCCS students.

UCCS enrolls you as a resident of wherever you physically lived when you applied, so relocation comes first; a later move can disrupt your plan (moving mid-program).

Questions UCCS students ask
Can I apply to UCCS's online FNP program while living in South Carolina?
No. The NP programs admit residents of fourteen listed states only, and South Carolina is not one. UCCS goes by physical residence at the time of application, so eligibility would start after a real move to a listed state. Confirm the current list with UCCS.
Does a South Carolina compact license help if I move to a listed state?
It does for compact members such as Florida, Texas and Colorado, where UCCS expects a multistate license for clinical hours. After your primary residence changes, expect to license in the new home state. Alaska, California and Nevada are outside the compact and issue their own RN licenses.
Does South Carolina's preceptor tax credit extend to UCCS students?
The statute ties the credit to learners enrolled at in-state public or independent colleges, so a student from a Colorado university sits outside it. UCCS students also log their hours in listed states.
Can a South Carolina RN enroll in UCCS's RN to BSN?
Not from here. The RN to BSN takes residents of 21 states; North Carolina is one, South Carolina is not. Students in a listed state complete NURS 4450 at a community site near home, as the RN to BSN page describes.
