UCCS From New Jersey: Why the Answer Starts With a Move
UCCS sorts online nursing applicants by home state, and New Jersey is on neither of its lists. Anyone living here today is outside both the NP programs and the RN to BSN. Relocating changes that: New York, just across the Hudson, is an RN to BSN state, and Florida is the East Coast's only NP-list state.

UCCS's programs, read from a New Jersey address
Eligibility tracks the state you physically live in, not the one that issued your license or employs you. Fourteen states feed the graduate NP options and twenty-one feed the RN to BSN; the approved states guide spells them out.

The New York option, for the RN to BSN only
New York sits on UCCS's RN to BSN roster, so a nurse who moves across the river could apply to that program as a New York resident and later take NURS 4450 at a community site in New York. It is absent from the NP roster, which keeps the graduate options closed on both banks of the Hudson. The New York page covers that state's own program rules.
Licensing shifts with the move. New Jersey takes part in the Nurse Licensure Compact and New York stays outside it, so settle the license question with New York before you pick a start term.
How New Jersey regulates NPs and outside programs
The Board of Nursing operates inside New Jersey's Division of Consumer Affairs. Compact membership took effect in November 2021; the APRN Compact has not passed here. AANP scores the NP environment as reduced, because a New Jersey NP needs joint protocols with a collaborating physician before ordering medications and devices.
No rule surfaced that makes a school from another state obtain the board's sign-off, or send it notice, ahead of New Jersey placements. Chapter 13:37 of the state code deals with accrediting programs at institutions New Jersey licenses, and its one clause on outside clinical agencies concerns in-state programs sending students elsewhere. Guidance the board may post online was not reviewed, so the board itself is the place to confirm.
Where New Jersey nurses work now
Virtua Health, Atlantic Health System, Cooper University Health Care in Camden, Hackensack Meridian Health and RWJBarnabas Health employ a large share of the state's nurses. Over seven million New Jerseyans are counted in the New York metro, with roughly 1.4 million more in the Philadelphia metro and smaller centers at Trenton-Princeton and Atlantic City-Hammonton.

Heading to Florida or the West

Questions UCCS students ask
Can I take UCCS's online AGNP program while living in New Jersey?
Not with a New Jersey address. The NP options are limited to people who live in one of UCCS's 14 listed states, and both the coursework and the clinical hours have to stay within them. Moving first is the path. UCCS alone decides admission, so confirm your plans with the college.
Could I keep my New Jersey home and do clinical work in New York?
No. UCCS judges by your home address, and New York appears only on the RN to BSN list. A New Jersey resident falls outside both lists, so crossing the river for clinical days opens nothing. A move to New York puts the RN to BSN in reach, but not the NP programs.
Does UCCS's curriculum meet New Jersey's NP licensure requirements?
UCCS's APRN licensure disclosure includes New Jersey as a state whose educational requirements the curriculum meets. That helps anyone who earns the degree while living in a listed state and afterward practices in New Jersey. It is not an admission list and does not bend the residency rule, as the disclosure page explains.
Will my New Jersey multistate license work if I move to Florida?
UCCS looks at residence before licenses. Once Florida is home, the practicum handbook expects a multistate license when hours fall in a compact state such as Florida, so ask Florida's board how your license carries over when you change states. The Florida page covers that state's clinical rules.
