Nebraska and UCCS's RN to BSN: NURS 4450 close to home
A registered nurse living in Nebraska can apply to UCCS's online RN to BSN, whose state list runs to 21 names, and would finish its single clinical course, NURS 4450 Public Health Nursing, at a Nebraska community site they secure. NURS 4450, step by step from Nebraska
Every RN to BSN nursing course runs online in an 8-week block, and NURS 4450 alone has clinical contact hours. UCCS's checklist for it has three hard dates: October 1 before a spring start, March 1 before summer, May 1 before fall. Here is the order to work in.

A board that stays out of post-licensure study
Nebraska's Department of Health and Human Services approves pre-licensure programs serving Nebraskans, yet its Board of Nursing leaves post-licensure programs unregulated, whatever their delivery. An RN to BSN clinical therefore meets no board approval step, and neither do graduate or APRN placements. Schools arrange preceptors straight with facilities, and a post-licensure program writes its own preceptor qualifications.
DHHS follows NCSBN's position that nursing practice takes place where the student physically is, so faculty need a license in that state. Compact membership took effect for Nebraska on January 19, 2018; a multistate license with Nebraska as home state covers UCCS's request for an active RN license where you live before NURS 4450. Board rosters from mid-2026 also hint that the separate APRN board has merged into the Board of Nursing, though no statute confirming it turned up.
Care systems from Omaha to Grand Island
Omaha, whose metro spills into Iowa, and Lincoln hold most of Nebraska's people, with Grand Island a distant third. Children's Nebraska, CHI Health, Nebraska Medicine, Bryan Health and Nebraska Methodist Health System all serve the state, and DHHS carries its public health work. Take them as a picture of who delivers care here, not as sites with a UCCS arrangement; faculty still weigh each community setting you put forward.
Next door to three NP-list states
Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota all border Nebraska, and all three appear on UCCS's 14-state NP list. Because UCCS defines residency as physical location and keeps NP hours and coursework inside a listed state, living in Nebraska and driving across a border for clinicals does not work; the move comes first. Does Nebraska require board approval for my NURS 4450 site?
No. Nebraska's board approves pre-licensure programs only and leaves post-licensure study alone, so an RN to BSN clinical carries no state approval step. UCCS faculty still approve the site, and UCCS signs a clinical education agreement with it before any hours count.
What grade do I need in NURS 4450?
RN to BSN students need a C (74%) or better in required nursing courses. A first failure unrelated to safety or conduct leads to a plan with your advisor. A second failure, or one involving safety or conduct, means dismissal, with one appeal to the Admissions and Progressions Committee.
I moved to Nebraska on another state's compact license. Is that enough?
Compact rules attach your multistate license to wherever you primarily live, so once Nebraska is home, the license UCCS looks for is a Nebraska one. Sort that out with the Nebraska licensure office before the checklist deadline so the rest of the list is not held up.
Would moving to Wyoming or Colorado open UCCS's NP programs?
