Why we focus on UCCS
UCCS's online NP programs draw students from Colorado and thirteen other approved states, and all of them get the same message from the college: the student finds the clinical hours, in the area where the student lives. UCCS reviews sites, drafts the Affiliation Agreement and preceptor letter, tracks compliance in Medatrax and sends site visitors. The search itself belongs to the student, and UCCS cannot share its list of contracted sites.
We treat that search as a UCCS process rather than a generic match. UCCS's forms, limits and timing are built into every step we take, because a preceptor who says yes but misses a handbook requirement, or a site that cannot sign before the term, does not get a student any closer to counted hours.
What we do for UCCS students
- Look for clinicians and clinics suited to your UCCS course, in person, within driving distance of your home in your approved state.
- Screen every preceptor against UCCS's rules for your track before you hear a name: licensure, two years of experience, certification and prescriptive authority, and the family and workplace limits.
- Prepare what the Clinical Site Sheet needs: the preceptor's identity and qualifications, the site's information, its authorized contract signer and a precise hour count.
- Plan around UCCS's timing, from the legal review a first-time agreement can need to the cap of three new agreements a semester (Synthesis excepted).
- Remain available for the whole rotation, and line up a new preceptor quickly if yours has to leave.

Who we work with
The bulk of our work sits in UCCS's online graduate programs: the MSN's three NP tracks (FNP, AGNP and PMHNP), along with the Post-Graduate NP Certificate, the BSN to DNP and the RN to MSN. Post-Master's DNP students come to us for a project site and an institutional mentor, and RN to BSN students for a community site for NURS 4450 Public Health Nursing.
Campus BSN clinicals in the Traditional and Accelerated options are assigned by UCCS itself, so our placement work centers on the programs where students lead the search. The programs hub lists every UCCS program with clinical hours.
Clinicians are part of the work too. We match preceptors with UCCS students whose course suits their practice, as described on precept a UCCS student.
How we keep the information accurate
Every UCCS fact on this site comes from UCCS's own published sources: the college's program pages, the 08/2026 practicum and preceptor handbooks, the 2026-27 catalog and the registrar. UCCS's documents do not always agree, for example on 630 versus 770 hours and on how firmly the student's role in the search is worded, and when they differ we show both versions and tell you which document governs your cohort.
Gaps get the same treatment. When UCCS has not published something, such as which graduate clinical courses run in summer, the page says it is unpublished and names the office to ask. UCCS roles appear by title, like the Graduate Clinical Practicum Coordinator and the Academic Services Professional for Graduate Nursing, so you know exactly whom to contact.

Questions UCCS students ask
Do you find preceptors outside Colorado?
Yes. UCCS accepts NP applicants from Colorado and thirteen other states across the West and beyond, from Alaska and California to Texas and Florida. We search in whichever of those states you live in, since UCCS expects hours where you reside. See the state guides.
Who sends the Clinical Site Sheet to UCCS?
You do. The sheet is the student's form, emailed by UCCS each semester and sent back to UCCS's Academic Services Professional for Graduate Nursing. We make that step quick: you receive every detail the sheet asks for, checked against UCCS's rules, so your submission goes in complete and early.
How is this different from searching on my own?
The UCCS rules are the same either way; the difference is time and screening. We run outreach at a pace few working students can match, check each preceptor against the UCCS handbook before you hear a name, and stay on call if one drops. Your options compared sets out the trade-offs.
Do you help UCCS DNP students?
Yes. A BSN to DNP student needs NP preceptors for the track courses as well as a site for the DNP project, while a Post-Master's DNP student needs only the project site and an institutional mentor, who UCCS says must work where the project is carried out. We search for both.
Will I have one contact person?
Yes. One placement advisor carries your case from the first call until your hours begin, with our placement desk behind them. That person knows your UCCS track, the hour total for your cohort and the rules for the state you live in, so your story only needs telling once.
